MOTIVATION

We all need a little pick me up from time to time.

I am 24 years old and have never felt young. From joint problems, knee surgeries and shoulder surgeries-- I have constantly been battling some ailment. I have had to adjust my work outs every season based on how my body has felt. Nonetheless, fitness and sports have been my saviors. I work out to feel healthy. I work out to see progress. And, I work out to accomplish goals. It's not about weight for me, it's about feeling strong, healthy and able.

When I cannot control other aspects of my life, relationships, job changes or housing stress, I can control what I do in the gym and can decide what I need. If my body feels good, I feel confident in my day, inspired to eat better and overall happier.

There is nothing better then the adrenaline rush a 62 year old can get after a good workout. At 40 years old I was told by doctor #1 that I should not be running and that I was too old, and too heavy (169lbs). Two weeks later a different doctor told me use it or lose it. “If you don’t start getting more cardio exercise it won’t be long that you won't be mobile.”

I vowed then to prove doctor #1 wrong and to live for and love myself the way I am. Now, 22 years later and still at 160lbs, I've completed 12 marathons, a 50k, over 1000 miles walking or running a year and I don't have any more pain. My body thanks me everyday because I can keep going. I also love the network of friends I have from being fit!
